Family Engagement
PARENT ENGAGEMENT
Ruch School benefits from 300+ volunteer hours each month that support extracurricular activities, classroom assistance, art curriculum, field trips, and high school preparation for graduating 8th graders. At Ruch Outdoor Community School, we believe parent engagement is vital to student success. Parents are invited and encouraged to volunteer as much as their schedule allows. We offer school to home communication in English and Spanish and in a variety of formats. Our school has a very strong PTO (Parent Teacher Organization) and over thirty partnerships with various community agencies. Many events through the year are parent driven and like the community involvement, defines the greater success of this school.
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
Ruch School has served as the hub of our community since 1914. We are recognized in the top 100 place-based schools internationally with a strong partnership with Teton Science Schools. On Mondays, Ruch operates a food pantry in partnership with ACCESS to serve families in need of meals. Community members volunteer time to meet with elementary students with low reading skills through the SMART program. The Maslow Project provides basic needs for at-risk youth, and vision screening is provided to all students in partnership with the Lions Club. The Mount Ashland Youth Ski and Snowboard Program is offered every winter to provide lessons and transportation for all students to learn how to ski or snowboard. Our PTO holds an annual auction that provides monetary support for the arts, athletics, and experiential learning.
